Vintage Kitten Finds

So, I might have to change the name of this blog to, "Crazy Cat Lady Writes about Cats and Cat Related Things."  I think every post this week has featured cats in some way.  I might actually be a crazy person haha!

That being said, here's some vintage kitten things I found at the Antique Gallery of Round Rock.  There's no way I could've passed these gems up!  
Laura Busony called this a book of lies when I posted a photo on Instagram.  I whole heartedly agree with her!  It looks like this girl has the situation totally under control.



These sassy kitten prints were too ridiculous to pass up, even though the condition of a couple of them is a little rough.  The teal plastic frames were too cute and how amazing is the little cow polk?  I just can't.  They're so good!

Whenever I go out looking for new thrift stores and vintage boutiques I never know what I'll find.  That's the fun of exploring places like that.  There's so much history, so much individuality to be discovered!  It's fun to discover these hidden treasures add my own story to theirs.  Hooray for old stuff!

Thrifty Thursday • Leighelena

This week, I popped over to SoCo to scout for some more vintage shops.  After realizing I'd already written about most of the shops down there, I decided to stop into Leighelena on a whim.  I'd actually avoided visiting Leighelena for a while because I knew it was a mix of vintage and new.  For some reason I'd always thought it was going to be mostly new stuff.  I'm so glad I decided to check it out, because good gracious they've got some gorgeous vintage!  The whole back of the SoCo location is stuffed with beautiful pieces from the 50s-80s.  

Their vintage selection was varied and extensive.  Their new selection was full of locally-made, handmade, indie, and fair trade jewelry and gifts.  So fun!

All the clothing was organized by decade and type of item.  The 50s and 60s dress racks were my most favorite.  You know that thing where you find the most perfect vintage dress you've ever seen and it's devastatingly too small?  That definitely happened.  Le sigh.

I was pleasantly surprised by the mens selection.  It was small but had good pieces.  Who doesn't love vintage boots and pearl snap shirts?


This is the view when you first walk in.  Lots of jewelry, knick knacks, Texas and Austin themed gifts and art.  There's a lot to look at!  But, if you're there for the vintage, just tootle to the back of the store and prepare your wallet for some damage.
I'm so disappointed that I'd never stopped in before now, but Leighelena is going to be one of my go-to shops whenever we visit SoCo.  This whole place has such a fun and quirky vibe.  It's very Austin!

Thrifty Thursday • Olive

Yay!  After a few weeks off, I was so excited to start wandering around town again in search of vintage goodness.  This week, I found Olive.  Lucky for me, the owner Laura was in when I popped by and we got to chat a little bit about her shop.  Olive features a small, curated selection of vintage women's clothing with an emphasis on timelessness.  Laura seeks out basic pieces that will fit any decade.  Things that can be easily incorporated into any wardrobe.  She's also got a great selection of vintage denim, which is really popular right now.  Especially in Austin! 

 Alongside the vintage is an extensive selection of products by indie designers.  Clothing, accessories, jewelry, perfumes, paper goods...you name it, they've got it.  Olive definitely has something for everyone.

Pretty much anything photographed here, at least at the time of writing this post, can be found in their online shop.  I actually picked up these super simple brushed silver triangle earrings when I stopped by.  I love them.  That's always the problem when I visit shops...it's really hard for me to leave without something!   I mean, Olive carries only vintage and indie...so it's pretty much everything I love.  Definitely stop by!

Thrifty Thursday • Ledbelly Vintage

This week, I've got a shop that's a bit different from the others I've visited in Austin.  Ledbelly Vintage is an online shop and showroom that's housed in an art gallery right in the heart of downtown Austin.  You can purchase directly from their website, or if you're local, schedule a time to come view the pieces you're interested in. 



Melinda, the owner of Ledbelly, has always loved vintage and it was her own growing collection that prompted her to start the shop.  Her showroom is filled with a curated collection of dresses, jewelry, purses, scarves and everything wonderful!

The styling and branding throughout the whole space was perfect.  I always love seeing consistent branding in any business and Ledbelly's is gorgeous.  From the tags to the signage, everything has a signature feel.  As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're a part of a vintage experience.

I mean, really?  How perfect is this display?!  I love everything about it!


I had such a wonderful time getting to know Melinda!  She's opened a truly unique vintage shop in Austin.  The business model allows for a totally personal and catered experience that you can't find anywhere else.  Ledbelly is a great place for personal stylists to resource vintage and art directors to find the perfect props for their shoot.  It's also totally accessible for folks like us to purchase Melinda's gorgeous finds online or stop by and bug her in the showroom to thumb through all the goodness.  Give her a call and go take a peek!
