Thrifty Thursday: Feathers Boutique

Feathers Boutique
address : 1700B S. Congress Ave., Austin, TX 78704
hours :  Sunday - Saturday: 11am - 7pm

Back to South Congress!  Right next door to Prototype Vintage, you'll find Feathers Boutique.  This shop is a mix of new designer pieces and vintage clothing and accessories.  With a highly curated inventory, this shop has a real personality.  Feathers has garnered the attention of national publications and bloggers alike.  Take a peek at their press page and you'll see names like Elle, Refinery29, Lucky, Nylon, Sea of Shoes, The Glamourai...the list goes on.  So I was itching to get in there and see what all the hubbub was about!

Now...shop photos!

When you first step in the store, you'll be walking into the middle level.  It's like a treasure hunt peeking on every floor and in every nook.  You never know what you'll find!
Small vignettes top each rack across the store.  The clothing is arranged by color, though not too strictly.  There are also accent pieces, neutrals and textures, that compliment the featured color in that display.
The staff was friendly and welcoming.  Everyone working seemed busy and the shop was positively bustling with activity.  On the day that I popped by, a member of the staff was pulling pieces to feature on their Instagram feed for sale.  Coming from a photo director background, I'm always excited to see how people shoot and style.  It was so cool to see their eye for styling outfits as they cased the store to create the perfect ensemble to photograph.
The colors and textures these ladies these find are just incredible.  Every piece is restored to like new condition.  No need to worry about altering or fixing up any pieces from this shop.  It's all gorgeous and ready for your next selfie :P
From what I could see, most of the vintage inventory was 70s through 90s, but their blog features pieces that are from the 30s and 40s. If you're looking for something a little more mid-century, Prototype is right next door!  I love how easy it is to vintage hop around Austin.
It's all about the details here.  I cannot accurately express how badly I need that kimono.
I think floral Docs are just gorgeous.  I'd totally wear these with some black skinny jeans, a drapey black tank top and comically large yellow scarf.  Maybe I should go back and get these so I make that happen haha!
Feathers Boutique is a beautifully curated shop that is uniquely branded.  The whole shop, from it's impeccably dressed employees to it's deliberately designed vignettes to the unique inventory is just unmistakably Feathers. It's an Austin fashion staple and you must stop by during your trek to South Congress.
