January in Review

January was such a wonderful start to this year!  Andy and I had a fun month of drawing, making stuff and hopping around Austin.  I love starting fresh and really embracing new goals and aspirations for the year.  So far, 2014 is treating us pretty well!

I wanted to share some of what went on here on the blog in January.  Take a looooook!

I visited Uptown Modern, Revival Vintage and Treasure City Thrift in Austin.  And dipped into my archives to share photos from Hampden Junque, a shop in Baltimore that I'd never posted.

Another fun vintage-centric post was a map of my favorite shops in the North Loop neighborhood of Austin.

I made some stuff!  This Impossible Scarf was really fun and comically large.  I've got two more in the works to make it my second in the 1-2-3 Crochet series.

A little early Valentine fun started.  This Valentine's Day Advent Chain is hanging in our living room right now!  Please note the pizza with heart pepperoni.

And these guys weren't for Valentine's Day specifically, but more for my ridiculously large collection of heart-shaped things.  They're also ridiculously large perler beads! So. Awesome.

Things got a little personal over here, too.  I shared 10 random facts about myself.  In case you wanted to know how far back my cat-lady-ness ran, or how much I hate Easter Grass.

Crafternoon!  I planned and hosted my first crafty event and had a blast!

A first peek at the space and projects was shared at the end of January and I have even more articles planned showing more detail about the day.  It was such a wonderful time and I can't wait to host the next one!

And last, but most certainly not least, I started a new 365 project called Happy Day and couldn't be having more fun with it!  I'll actually be sharing a print of January's days soon.  Because the internet needs more cats.

I can't believe January is over already.  It's been an eventful month and I couldn't be happier with this new daily drawing project.  I hope you're liking it, too!  Be sure to check out Andy's holiday picks and drawings for January.  He's doing the whole year with me and I think it's so cool to see which holidays he goes for and how our interpretations can be different.

February has lots more silly holidays in store, so I hope you'll stick around for more kittens! ^_^

Happy Puzzle Day!  Today is a great day for me to finish that puzzle that's been on our living room floor since Christmas!  But it's this one, so probably not.  There's giant swaths of white that are maddening!!!  It's a beautiful and treacherous puzzle.

Happy Spouses Day!  If you've got someone special, do a little something extra for them today ^_^  This guy is a kitten version of my own husband, Andy, who's my most favorite person on the planet!

Happy Mac Day!  The very first Macintosh was released 30 years ago today.  Happy Birthday, Mac.  I'm a total Apple fangirl and will only use your products forever and ever ^_^

Happy Peanut Butter Day!  Have a spoonful, or a sandwich or pair it with cheese like a weirdo like me.  I promise it's really yummy!  Maybe it's just me and Granddaddy that like the two together ^_^

Happy Handwriting Day!  Take a minute to write a note, or your to-do list, or a quick note to a friend.  Writing something down instead of typing it is so much more satisfying to me ^_^

Happy Answer Your Cat's Question Day!  Please don't ask the origin of this day...or why it's even a thing.  Just accept it.  I'm guessing the only three questions your cat will ever ask are: Where's my food? Why aren't you skritching me?  And, No.

The last one isn't really a question.  But they're cats and that's generally what's going on in their minds :P

Happy Cheese Lovers Day!  You can bet I'll be celebrating like the cheese-hound I am ^_^

I love picking out the silliest holidays each day, but on a more serious note, it's also Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Whether your working, or have the day off, please take a moment to remember who he was and what he did for all of us.  My mom actually got to meet him when she was little and wrote a short article about the experience.  He was a brilliant and man who's ideas and teachings are still relevant today.

Happy Popcorn Day!  Today, I will celebrate by eating some spicy popcorn.  Seriously...it's just this generic brand stuff at HEB and it is heaven!

Also, every time I say popcorn I think about this clip from The Office.

Happy Winnie the Pooh Day!  It's A. A. Milne's birthday and it's time to celebrate one of our favorite bears ^_^ Tigger was always my favorite.  And you know the cartoons are on Netflix now, right?!
