Geeky Gift Guide • Star Trek

The second day in my week of geeky gifts is all about Star Trek.  Andy and I just finished watching every Star Trek series ever...plus the movies.  It was a long journey and Deep Space Nine was tough to get through, but we persevered!  I just love the sense of adventure and exploration...the utopian Earth where there's no more conflict or money...the total equality of all races and genders.  Let's live there!  My parents used to watch when I was little, so it's been a big part of my life.  The Original Series and The Next Generation are my most favorites, for the characters and sometimes silly story lines, so here are a few goodies that celebrate those wonderful shows!

Daily Drawing: 66 | Heart and Soul

So Andy and I are on a journey.  A journey through Star Trek.  We've committed to watching every Star Trek episode, of every Star Trek series.  We've done the Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine (woof), and are currently in season 5 of Voyager.  In tonight's episode, Harry Kim played Heart and Soul on the clarinet.  It was...unsettling...as Seven of Nine would say.  Despite it's downfalls (and there's plenty), I'm so glad that we're watching everything.  The spirit of the show, in the beginning, was of true exploration and adventure.  What's more fun than hopping across the galaxy just to see what you can see?  I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot.  Every series is up on netflix for instant viewing!  Do it!  I dare you :P

Star Trek Inspiration: Uhura Nails

Here's how my Star Trek nails came out! This color is so great. Three coats of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in 13 - Celeb City. I'm pretty sure it was just $2.99 at Rite Aid. I usually do my nails every Sunday. It's just fun little "me" thing that I make time for on the weekend. These turned out really great imo, so I might start posting my nails more regularly.

Star Trek Inspiration

Andy and I have challenged each other to watch every Star Trek episode ever. We both grew up watching (TNG is my favorite!) and we're making our way through the second season of the original series. I love the 60's in general and especially their vision of the future. Uhura is one of my favorites...I love how classy and beautiful she is on duty! I've been wanting to paint my nails like hers for a while, and I'm totally doing it today. Look how great!

So I'm armed with some Sally Hansen's Clearly Quick and Celeb City and the Ikea catalog that just arrived! I'm silly excited for this. It's the little things ^_^
