So I'm all about DIY. I was raised that way and find it really empowering to have to depend on someone else, or pay someone to do something that easily done at home...for free. Being on Etsy, and reading Craft magazine and Readymade, has exposed me to some wonderful projects and ideas. Everything from sewing to furniture to beauty products are featured on tons of DIY sites, but one thing that is missing is something that everyone does. Getting your hair cut. Whether you go to the $15 shop up the road or posh salon downtown, everyone gets their hair cut. After quitting my day job, going to my favorite salon was the expense I had to cut. It made me a little sad because I love my stylist and was always doing something different with my hair, so just growing it long was driving me slightly batty.
Then I took matters into my own hands! I started looking on YouTube for some tutorials on just cutting bangs. Mine were getting a little out of control and I was used to just doing the straight across blunt cut and wanted something different. Then I found this chick. She's awesome.
That turned out awesome, so I got a little more adventurous and got Dick involved.
And by "involved" I mean "gave him the scissors and told him to this" I'm so happy with how it turned and even more happy that we did it on our own!
Here's the final result:
P.S. No braces!
Cool! I've been cutting my hair (and everyone else's in the house) for 5.5 years since we moved from NY to AZ. I've mastered the inverted bob and side bangs...layers-uh, yeah, I need a remedial layering tutorial.
ReplyDeleteDIY haircuts are the bees knees indeed. Super cute cut, even more so knowing that you did it yourself.
ReplyDeleteP.S.
Pretty smile!
Ah! So cool! Good video too~
ReplyDeleteWow! You did a great job :) If I saw you on the street I'd assume you had it done somewhere.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I've been trimming my own bangs to put off getting my hair cut as long as possible to save a little money, but I'm afraid to cut it all. Yours looks great.
ReplyDeleteLooks Great!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing my own hair since 2004 when I was charged $39 for a 3-minute hair cut... decided "Never again!"
That's awesome! Your hair looks so cute! As much as I'd love to be able to cut my hair myself, I'm just not sure yet...we'll see!
ReplyDeleteI like that your did it yourself. It's amazing what you can find on youtube :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great! Awesome!
