So I've been taking a Book Arts class at school and have learned some wonderful techniques in bookbinding. We are encouraged to find fun decorative paper to use for the covers, but non of the stuff at Michael's (the only craft store in town >_<) strikes my fancy...at all. Like, I look at all of it and really want to gag. I guess it's because paper like that is geared toward women who scrapbook and don't get out much. And make no mistake, I am insulting scrapbooking. It's lame and you should quit it. But I digress.
Walking through the rows of cheesy paper made me think about what I would like in a book. When I make anything, no matter how small, it's always something I like. Something that I consider more of a work of art than just a means to making money. Also, using materials that are on hand is crucial, too. Being a college student, I don't have much cash to go on a supply binge. With all this in mind, my comic books coming screaming into my head. I mean, I have so many gutted books and great material...might as well make of the most of it! That idea turned into these:
This is a brilliant idea.
