This used to be me!

I worked for about 3 years at EB games and went from seasonal part time help to store manager. My friends worked with me and we had so much fun. This video, with Olivia Munn (one of my favorite girls ever) as the star, sung by Perry Gripp, the guy who did Chimpanzee Ridin' on a Segway (youtube it now!) and with drums by the phenomenal Kevin Pereira, is the definition of my 3 years working in a video game store. Enjoy!

So it’s been awhile since I’ve written and a lot has happened. I’ve been making great sales on etsy, and my body of work is definitely increasing. I find it easier to keep people’s attention with pictures, so I’m not going to make you think very hard in this blog.

Exibit A:

Remember this pretty? I finally finished it, and it turned out A.Mazing! It’s up for sale and has more views than anything else I’ve made. I am very proud of it.

Exhibit B:

These both sold to one buyer…big ups to “labelreader” in VA. Apparently Virginia is for nerd lovers ^_^ They were new variations on older designs and I think they turned out really fresh.

Exhibit C:

These super little guys didn’t take too much time and totally awesome (if I do say so myself). My mom used to make little cross stitch project of things her friends liked, like my grandmother has a little set of golf clubs on her wall. I thought it would be sweet to make some little ones of things dorky kids like me liked.

Exhibit D:

So this one had been half finished for a long time and I just never got around to actually completing it. So I got up my gumption and got it done. I really like this because only a true gamer would understand…and it’s almost totally accurate down to the pixel. Every geeky gamer remembers the worst translation ever:

Lol grammer.

Exhibit E: (and last one, if you’re really bored)

I just made them tonight. Being totally out of vital colors needed to complete my Mario coasters…I had to come up with something else to do. I feel like I was straying from my first love of pixels. The pixel coasters are what kind of sparked my sales and recognition, so I felt like I had to get back to that. It’s really hard figuring out how to spend my time.

Anyway…I hope you like the stuff. I’m going to try and complete at least 3 projects a week to keep my store fresh. We’ll see how that works out ^_^

Zombies Ate My Cross Stitch

So the cross stitch thing is actually working out pretty good. I just sold my first project, "Zombies At My Cross Stitch." It was one of the zombies from the amazing SNES game Zombies At My Neighbors lol! It was actually the first real cross stitch project I did. That made me happy.
I've been focusing more to the videogame demographic actually. I just think it's hilarious to see these inside gamer jokes in a classic cross stitch. It makes me giggle on the inside. In lue of that, I just started a new project. I really wanted to do a typical cross stitch sampler. Like the goofy country ones that say something sweet about home and god and herbs and all that jazz. Instead of the hokey country apples with happy worms coming out though, I wanted that whole gamer thing. So I came up with this:

I just started on it...and it's a bitch. Throughout my crafting excapades, I've figured something out about myself. Apparently, when I make something up original, I have to make it the most difficult thing I've ever done. It's all subconsious to some degree, but it pisses me off when I get into it and realize how hard it is. ie: I've been working on this for last 2 days and have gotten this far:

If you can't tell...those are Tetris pieces. Yeah, awesome, i know! But each little piece and color are just far enough apart that it can't be easy. Here's a crappy close-up:

I've got to go back and outline all the pieces too once the border is done. It will be awesome when it's done tho. I'm thinking about selling the pattern. I'm definatly selling this when I'm done (I'm having a hard time figuring out how much to charge >_<). Selling the pattern might be pretty cool. There's a couple more that I've done that would make great patterns. I'll need help figuring all that out too. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
